Italian brand will show special-edition V8-powered SUV alongside 2019 versions of the Ghibli, Quattroporte and Granturismo MC with exclusive trims

Maserati is to premiere another new version of its Levante SUV at the Geneva motor show next week.

The Levante Trofeo Launch Edition, which the Italian luxury brand says will be the star of its show stand, will be limited to 100 units.

It will be available in three colours: Blu Emozione Matte blue, Giallo Modenese yellow and Rosso Magma red. Other external features to distinguish the model include carbonfibre inserts on the bumpers, side skirts and bonnet and 22in Orione alloy wheels.

Inside, there are new sports seats with full-grain Pieno Fiore leather and a Trofeo logo stitched into the headrest.

There's no indication that the Launch Edition has a different powerplant than the regular Trofeo: a 582bhp 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V8 designed by Ferrari. This provides a 0-62 time of 4.1sec and a top speed of ‘close to’ 186mph. The gearbox is an eight-speed automatic unit from ZF.

A price for the Trofeo Launch Edition hasn't yet been defined, but more details should be given at the show.

Maserati have also released further details about its Geneva plans, stating a focus on ‘distinctive Italianness’ and customisation. To this end, renowned woodworking company Giorgetti, metalworking firm De Castelli and men’s luxury clothing manufacturer Ermenegildo Zegna will co-host the Maserati stand, each displaying tools, materials and components.

But where cars are concerned, visitors can see Maserati's entire 2019-model-year range, composed of Ghibli, Quattroporte and Levante models in restyled trims. Among them will be a Granturismo MC with a new trim pack and exterior stylings, a Levante S Q4 Gransport, also in exclusive trim and with a Zegna Pelletessuta interior, and two Ghibli S Q4 models, in Gransport and Granlusso trim respectively.
