Ford Europe Teases New VW-Based Electric Crossover

ford europe teases new vw based electric crossover

Last year, Ford announced that it would split its business operations to separately focus on EV development and internal combustion production. Ford Model e is the automaker’s electric arm, and it’s made progress in Europe through partnerships with brands like Volkswagen. The VW MEB platform will be the basis for Ford’s latest EV, though all we’ve seen so far is a quick tease from the company’s European General Manager on Twitter.

The upcoming release is known only as a “medium-size crossover,” though Ford has already teased another vehicle as a sporty crossover. Motor1’s spy photographers have spotted the first vehicle, capturing shots of a boxy EV with vague Ford Explorer vibes. Given the platform and size description, though, it’ll likely be closer to a VW ID.4 in size and function. The sportier model could be similar to the ID.5.

Ford plans to go electric in Europe by 2030 and is changing its offerings on the continent to achieve that goal. The Fiesta is going away later this year and will be replaced by a new Puma EV. This new EV will likely slot into the catalog between it and the existing Mustang Mach-E.
