Automakers often invite dealers to view unreleased future products to give them an idea of what’s coming and to drum up interest in the brand. Mopar Insiders reported that Stellantis recently held its annual Dealer Business Meeting in Las Vegas and took the opportunity to show off dozens of upcoming vehicles, including a new midsize truck from Ram.
There hasn’t been a midsize truck in the Dodge/Ram universe in more than a decade after the Dakota disappeared in 2011. Though the truck dealers saw during the meeting wasn’t a production-ready model, officials said the model is designed for North America and noted that it took cues from Ram’s Revolution electric concept truck.
Though some midsize trucks, such as the Ford Ranger and Chevrolet Colorado, offer work-site appeal, Ram’s electric truck will be more of a lifestyle vehicle. Dealers reported that it features distinct Ram styling but is sportier in shape and not as rugged.
Ram will lean on the Stellantis STLA Large platform for the truck, which also underpins the Dodge Charger Daytona concept and the Jeep Recon EV. The automaker also confirmed that the upcoming Charger would be a four-door vehicle and said that it would be offered with a range of gas engines on top of the electric powertrain.
