The Subaru BRZ got more power with its recent overhaul, but the automaker apparently isn’t stopping there. According to Redditors that attended the recent Subiefest, Subaru is gearing up for the release of a new BRZ tS model for 2024.
The car is not expected to be a limited edition like the previous tS and is rumored to get Hitachi dampers and Brembo brakes. It will also likely get Subaru’s EyeSight safety tech, which previous manual transmission versions couldn’t have.
Those changes should improve the car’s handling and ride but won’t boost its acceleration times. A video shared on YouTube shows the car running an autocross course at the event, though it’s unclear if any of the expected modifications are in place. That said, the car looks relatively stable in the corners, and the driver is easily able to rotate with the throttle, so the added power of the new model plus the (supposed) suspension upgrades look to be doing their job.
This story comes hot on the heels of another report related to the Subaru’s counterpart, the Toyota GR86. The automaker is rumored to be looking at the possibility of fitting the GR Corolla’s turbo-three to the car, which would boost output to 300 horsepower. Though Toyota and Subaru collaborated on the cars’ designs, Toyota is not expected to share the engine with its partner.
